Glamorgan Centurions Cricket Club has named Tenovus as it's official charity partner. Thankfully the weather shone on Wednesday 10th June at Central Park in Llantwit Fardre the planned charity cricket match was held to raise funds for Tenovus. The game was between the current Glamorgan Centurions squad and a Gareth Jones Memorial XI made up of past Glamorgan Centurions Players.
This special charity fixture was in memory of a founder member of Glamorgan Centurions Cricket Club. Gareth Jones worked at the University for over 20 years and was a talented cricketer himself. Members of both sides had the pleasure of playing in the same team as Gareth so it was fitting that his son Geraint captained the side that took the field in his name. Tenovus is the chosen charity of Gareth’s family.

Glamorgan Centurions Captain Neil Shearer stated “it was great to get together with so many colleagues and players, past and present and enjoy a fun game of cricket. Everybody enjoyed the occasion and more importantly we managed to raise an excellent sum in memory of a valued colleague for a very worthwhile cause.” Anne Pash, Community Fundraiser for Tenovus commented “my sincere thanks go to everyone involved in organising an excellent event this evening, I can think of no better way of paying tribute to Gareth”.
