Cancellation ends season (26th August 2008)

The final game of the season has again been cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.  The worst August that anyone can remember has seen five fixtures in a row being cancelled.  It means the season draws to a disappointing end.  All that is left is the end of season presentations, final details of which can be found here.

Squad for final game of the season (23rd August 2008)

Below is the squad for the scheduled final game of the season, again against Llantwit Fardre Centenary select XI as we final aim to end the season by playing this prestigous game.  The squad is in no particular order.

1. M. Phillips (capt)
2. G. Ball
3. N. Shearer
4. M. Ball
5. A. Hibberd
6. N. Howard
7. P. Davies
8. R. Lewis
9. A. Coombs
10. M. Judd
11. R. Phillips
12. I. Mansell

Any problems please let Gareth Ball know as soon as possible.  Please be at the ground by 5.45pm prompt.

Centenary game yet again cancelled (19th August 2008)

All we seem to be reporting are cancellations and this Wednesday's (20th August) attempt to play our centenary game against Llantwit Fardre has again been cancelled.  The pitch at Llantwit Fardre is unplayable and even if it remained dry would still be unplayable due to the sheer amount of rain we have had recently.  This rescheduled fixture had replaced our planned game which was to be our first fixture with South Wales Echo, we thank them for their understanding.  Next weeks game against Cardiff Bay Barbarians, our scheduled last game of the season, has also been called replaced with our seeemingly final attempt to play our centenary match, we again thank Cardiff Bay Barbarians for their understanding.  Lets all prey for some sun!

Another cancellation (12th August 2008)

It is with great disappointment that the terrible and frustrating weather of this summer (after last summer you may have thought things coudl improve) that the fourth attempt to play our centenary fixture has fallen to the foul weather.  We will attempt to reschedule this game on a rolling basis until the end of the season.

Fourth time of asking (6th August 2008)

It was not third time lucky as tonights fixture has been called off as the pitch at Central Park is unplayable due to the rain over the past week. The centenary game has been re-arranged for next Wednesday 13th August (which will be the fourth attempt at this centenary fixture) as our original opponents, Cardiff Cavaliers, have a rescheduled cup final to play next week.  A full revised fixture list can be found here

Third time lucky (4th August 2008)

It will be a case of third time lucky when we attempt to again play our fixture against a Llantwit Fardre Select XI as part of their centenary celebrations.  The already re-arranged fixture of Wednesday 30th July 2008 was again cancelled.  It started raining again around 5pm however the skies did clear at around 6.30pm.  Unfortunately the rain had warterlogged the squares immediately surrounding the match wicket and the area was unplayable.  Planned celebrations did go ahead in teh bar afterwards and we would like to thank Llantwit Fardre for their generosity.  The fixture has been re-arranged again for Wednesday 6th August 2008 when we will it will be a case of third time lucky.  Here is the team selected for this centenary fixture again in no particular order.

1. M. Phillips (Capt)
2. G. Ball (Wkt)
3. N. Shearer
4. R. Lewis
5. M. Ball
6. S. Williams
7. R. Phillips
8. N. Howard
9. P. Davies
10. M. Judd
11.A. Coombs

As you can see it is a bare eleven so if anyone has any issues can they please advise Gareth Ball urgently in the usual way.

We would like to thank Cardiff Bay Barbarians, our scheduled opposition for Wednesday 6th August, who have agreed to cancel the fixture at short notice.  A full revised fixture list can be found here

Additional net session arranged (8th July 2008)

Due to the cancellation of this weeks fixture a net session has been arranged at the National Cricket Academy at the SWALEC Stadium (formerly Sophia Gardens), for tomorrow (9th July 2008) at 7pm. The session will last one hour and will be free of charge. The session has been arranged to try and fill the gap left by recent cancellations. See you there.

Game against GE Healthcare cancelled (8th July 2008)

The game scheduled for 9th July 2008 against GE Healthcare has been cancelled, the opposition have advised the committee that they can not raise a side.

Game against St Fagans Museum cancelled (2nd July 2008)

The game scheduled for tonight (2nd July 2008) against St Fagans Museum has been cancelled due to the downpour of rain we have experienced yet again in this gloomy "summer" today.

Additional 40 over fixture (19th June 2008)

We have been invited to play a 40 over match against Caerleon Cricket Club, away, on Sunday 29th June, stumps at 2.30pm. This will be an excellent opportunity for us to play an extended version of the game against new opposition. Can all squad members let Gareth Ball know if you are available for the game ASAP in the usual way. This is our second recent change to this seasons fixture list. For a full updated fixture list clickhere.

Season start rescheduled (9th May 2008)

Our Club Secretary has been busy re-arranging our cancelled first game of the season against Cardiff University Staff. This has now been rescheduled for Wednesday 14th May 2008, into what was previously a "free" week for us. Could all members please advise of your availability for this fixture urgently to Gareth Ball by e-mailing secretary@glamorgancenturions.co.uk or replying to the e-mail he has sent round to members. Finally, thank you to all who turned out for the training session last Wednesday 7th May which replaced the originally scheduled Cardiff University Staff game, it was an excellent session and extremely worthwhile.

First game, first cancellation (6th May 2008)

Unfortunately and very disappointingly our first game of the season scheduled for Wednesday 7th May 2008 against Cardiff University staff has been cancelled. Notification of a fixture clash from our opponents was received late on Sunday evening 4th May. We have asked Cardiff University if they would redeem the situation by filling our vacant slot next Wednesday 14th May, we will update you as soon as we have more news.

As the pitch is booked and paid for at Central Park, we are proposing to have a game of pair’s cricket or six a side and use it as a training session as closely simulating a game as possible, there will be no charge for this. All are welcome to come (not just the 12 originally selected for the cancelled game) and we really need at least 12 to make it a good session. Can you please let Gareth Ball know if you can make it or not by e-mailing secretary@glamorgancenturions.co.uk or replying to the e-mail he has sent round to members.

Fixture List Confirmed (11th April 2008)

Our fixtures for the 2008 season have now been confirmed with 15 scheduled fixtures, 6 net/training session and no fewer then 7 new opponents (5 of these from the Willows League with 6 Willows League opponents in total) and a centenary celebration fixture with our partners Llantwit Fardre also included, the 2008 season should be our most challenging and enjoyable one yet. To see the new fixture list click here. For information on the nets sessions, see news section.
